About TAMK, School of Vocational Teacher Education

The School of Vocational Teacher Education at Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAOKK) provides pedagogical education for teachers as well as for people in other professions who wish to teach at universities of applied sciences, vocational schools, and vocational adult education centres. In most cases, the trainee teachers go through the programme on an in-service basis while working as full-time teachers.

The vocational teacher education programme consists of 60 credits and provides the pedagogical qualification required of teachers in universities of applied sciences, vocational schools, and vocational adult education centres. The vocational teacher education programme at TAOKK also meets the statutory pedagogical requirements for teaching at comprehensive schools and upper secondary schools, as well as for work in non-formal adult education.

TAOKK also provides a programme for special needs teachers. This programme is a further education programme for teachers working as vocational special needs teachers or wishing to work in this field. The programme consists of 60 credits and gives the qualification required of vocational special needs teachers.

TAOKK also provides continuing education for teachers and trainers working within the various fields of working life. Research and development as well as international cooperation are also on its agenda.
